Lesson #2
Deciding Who You Want to Be As a Man
Deciding Who You Want to Be As a Man
The Socio-Sexual Hierarchy, or the Alpha Male mindset, has been doing rather well for itself lately, gaining traction with younger men. As I've established already, if this is what you're wanting to be, an Alpha Male, then this site is not the place for you. There are places in society for those with the Alpha Male mindset, but when we look at things from the perspective of a family man, the attitude and qualities of an Alpha Male, are unable to coincide with each other.
The earlier that you decide what kind of man you want to be, the earlier that you can get started establishing yourself as that man. Life as a man is hard enough as it is, it will constantly be filled with struggles and trying to prove yourself. Once you have the idea of who you want to be, all you need to do is take the steps to get there.
While certain lifestyles or extra-curricular activities can provide short term satisfaction, it's hard as a young man or a man that wants to make a change for the better, to look at things from the perspective of long term goals. If you're wanting short term satisfaction, it is not hard to obtain. Whether it be recreational drugs, drinking, partying, or women, they can all provide short term satisfaction and they can be easy to reach for.
However, if you're like me and your aspire to more than short term goals, if you want a strong family, financial security, and to be looked at for support in times of crises, you have to forego the desires of temporary and short term satisfaction. As we look at the alternative ideology of the Socio-Sexual Hierarchy, I'll show you why it will not work in a Patriarchy, and in future lessons, where those that choose this mindset have a place in society.
The Socio-Sexual Hierarchy is the hierarchy that men use to rank themselves compared to other men and on their ability to attract women. In this hierarchy, Omega is ranked the lowest, to Alpha being the "Superior" man. The Sigma Male is also included in this hierarchy, but they consider themselves to be separate from the hierarchy, because they don't care about such things as ranking in the hierarchy. If you use the Socio-Sexual Hierarchy as the basis for defining the man you want to be, your entire life will be spent trying to climb the ladder to get to that Alpha Male status. Once you get there, your entire personality is based on self-interests and how you can further improve your social standing, while having to continue to maintain that Alpha Male status.
Alpha Male - They are characterized by their dominant personality, often exhibiting natural leadership skills and are very charismatic, are physically attractive, and have aggressive tendencies. They enjoy making others feel that they are beneath them, because it boosts their own ego. Alpha Males are very sociable and are attracted to the women that will be submissive. Their main goal is to increase their own personal standing and status, accumulating wealth, and attracting women.
Beta Male - Whereas the Alphas are characterized by their dominant personalities, the Beta Male is characterized by their submissiveness. They avoid confrontation and risk, they are what are classified as "simps" because they tend to take a more idolization view on women. While they are submissive, they are also very loyal. They are kind, decent, and personable.
Delta Male - What society would classify as the "normal" guy. They show up to work and take pride in what they do, wanting to learn more so that they can further being productive and be more useful for the company.
Gamma Male - Are insecure about their status and are unhappy with where they are at in life. They can be intelligent, romantic, and empathize with others easily. They have some feminine characteristics, but have difficulty understanding women. They care too much about what other people think of them and lack the confidence to be a leader.
Omega Male - Are the exact opposite of an Alpha Male. They are loners who don't care about what others think of them. They don't judge and is welcoming to all.
Sigma Male - While on the same tier as an Alpha Male, Sigma Males are more focused on dominating themselves, than gaining status and wealth. They have a "lone wolf" mentality.
"How does a man stay on top? Become the servant of all? When you the servant of all, no competition's involved.
'Cause who is knocking you off, there's no where left to fall."
Song lyrics from "Crowns & Thorns (Oceans)" by KB.
With the Socio-Sexual Hierarchy, it's all based upon you competing with your fellow man, increasing your own status, sometimes at the expense of others. You will spend your entire life struggling to compete with other men and fighting to maintain your own status. In the end, there will be a point where you are unable to fulfill those requirements to maintain your status. Whether it be due to age, health issues, or a financial difficulty, what will you do when you can't maintain the status that you have spent your entire life struggling to obtain?
The Patriarchy is based on having a strong masculine man leading the family and increasing the families status. While the Patriarchy is designed to have the father or eldest man as the leader of the family, it is complemented by the women in the family. The man is responsible for leading the family, but are to heed the advice of their wives. The goal of the Patriarch, is to raise a strong family, so that when the time comes and he is no longer able to be the Patriarch, that the family has a strong successor, because of the love, time, and effort the Patriarch has put into caring for and leading the family.
